Jacinthe is a collaborative project proposing a joint collection between Harley Davidson and Dior. Our design statement is as follows...
French for the hyacinth flower - jacinthe resembles both power and pride. The upcoming generation is quick to decide what is in and what is out, so appealing to them is the challenge. The goal for us is to create a new image for Dior that appeases the youth but will also withstand over time -- A new new look if you will. With inclusivity at the forefront of modern fashion, the ultra-feminine aesthetic from Dior could use a facelift. Incorporating feminine details into men's fashion and blurring the lines between gender will draw in the new generation while keeping true to the heart of Dior. This generation appreciates the classics and has an eye for vintage, but they want to feel bold and confident, free to explore the way they want themselves and the world they live in to be. The choice to collaborate with Harley Davidson comes from the desire for freedom to be whatever and whoever you want - their mission incorporates freedom for the soul. The collaboration would be the first step of many to bring power to the image of femininity from Dior. We believe that the unexpected juxtaposition of these two companies will bring in massive media attention because it is something that has never been seen before and will open both companies to a wider audience. Our line aims to combine the classic French elegance of Dior with the rugged workwear created by Harley Davidson.Designed for all genders, Jacinthe is inspired by both draped and structured silhouettes, used in unexpected ways to juxtapose each other. Jacinthe looks into the philosophy of both brands for garments that feel both free and powerful.

While we all collaborated on designs, the photos above picture the outfit that I constructed -- Gallantry.

Gallantry
This look consists of a leather vest and a pair of taffeta pants. The cherry colored sheepskin vest reaches the natural waist, flattering a masculine or feminine body type. The vest features a mandarin collar, lazer-cut lettering, and varying sizes of handcrafted leather roses. The pants are created with a two-tone taffeta that creates visual illusion as the model moves. The pants zip completely up the side mimicking the zipper detailing at the cuff of a classic motorcycle jacket. Zipping the side together or leaving it open creates two different looks, straight or wide leg.

Below is some behind the scenes of the laser cut Harley Davidson logo. We partnered with Auburn Maker's Space to use their machine- one of only two of its kind.

Above are a few of the designs I brought to our group discussion. Below is the combination of my and my groups designs for our proposed collection.
